Cat no. DWEP001
Format : 12" Vinyl
Release Date : Nov.2001
This, the first release form Deep-Water
Recordings, sets the stage for the labels musical
mission. The EP opens with Bathyspheres Wheres
Vicky? which uses horizontal breaks and slices
of live trumpet to light up the darkest fathoms of lo-tempo
jazz. Quantic take off where Bathysphere left off with
a vibrant and beatz-heavy dance floor remix of Wheres
Vicky to create the definitive future-past
sound.
Flipping the 12 over reveals Normal Positions
Verb, an anthemic combination of time-stretched
hip-hop deformity and Fila-Brazilia-esque late night
atmosphere. Hint closes the EP with Count Your
Blessings a loose funky slab of instrumental
UK hip-hop which meanders into post-rock melodic territory.
