Like getting a warm
water bed bath from Nurse Winona in Heaven while
God himself feeds you soft fruit , cold champagne
and excellent drugs. This is so unbelievably lovely
that we feel like burning the rest of the records
in a hissy fit.
Eclectic single of

From Brighton, the
County town of the broken beat. This is both clever
and chilled and is, therefore, at the vanguard
of the New Pastoral Movement. Probably. Hopefully.

Cat no. DWEP003
Format : 12" Vinyl
Release Date : March 2002
After
receiving generous props from various movers and shakers
for his contribution to DWEP001
("Count Your Blessings"), Hint now presents
DWEP003, "The Beau Selectah EP" - four tempting
slices of fresh and quirky Ruralbeat straight from the
heart of The Sticks.
Proving
that when the going gets tough, the tough get lush,
the EP calls to mind Homelife, Lemon Jelly, Bonobo and
all that malarky. The tracks are a mixture of original
material from Hint's own feeble arsenal of "adequate"
equipment, alongside small snippets and sounds from
various old rekkids - placing him firmly at the more
tuneful end of the cut and paste spectrum.
Hint's
4 tracks provide 100% of your Recommended Daily Allowance
of the following: Happy clappy choirs ("Quite Spectacular"),
streetwise detectives hot on the heels of a serial killer
("Gumshoe"), pretentious waffle ("Faderation")
and seaside lullabies inspired by regular visits to
Brighton ("Hinterlude #1").
To
round off the EP, Jon Kennedy (on loan from the northern
branch of the Tru Thoughts family) provides a remix
of "Faderation". His dusty drums and wholesome
strings mould the track into a widescreen format and
add a touch of class to the otherwise ramshackle proceedings.
Nice one!
